MEDICAL
Sui was a nine-tailed fox that got banished to the human world and had to take over the life of a human. He's not the strongest, but he's in good health and quite graceful. In his fox form, he's very difficult to kill, but if one of his tails is broken, it's a death sentence.
PERSONALITY

Though I've never thought I'd say this line, Sui is an aesthetic. It's his world, and we're all living in it. It's easiest to sum this up by saying he does what he wants to do.
One of the first traits that people may seem to notice about him is his elegant personality. This side of him comes out in all aspects, ranging from how he carries himself, the words he uses, the clothes he wears, and his actions. Elegance seems to be inherent to his nature, that being of a nine-tailed fox, and he carries it over to his human personality. Even his hobbies (cooking, dancing, singing, playing instruments) all point to an artist instead of a fighter.
In the celestial realm, his ethereal elegance was considered seductive but that's why he was known for a secondary trait: his lustful nature. Sui appreciates beautiful things, including people, and has no qualms about taking many lovers. However, lovers are all they're ever meant to be as he moves from man to man, making love to whoever has his attention at the time. With no shame, he flirts openly, teases mercilessly, and has as much fun as his time allows. It's even said that many immortals died for him, though we never see this and don't know if it's truth or fiction. He does have preferences and morals, even when it comes to sleeping around. For one, he makes it no secret that he's giving his body, not his heart. That said, it's all done with genuine appreciation and not from a lack of respect. There are just so many beautiful things that his heart can't be tied down. Likewise, he refuses to sleep with taken men. Just as he's honest about his intentions, he expects the same from others, and cheating on someone who's meant to have your heart is too dishonest for his taste. If he finds someone courting him has another, he'll harshly shut down any flirting and send them away.
Yet another trait that comes from his celestial form is his pride, as Sui himself admits. Sometimes, this can add to his elegance or ethereal figure, but most of the time, it's troublesome. Even when he should back down from a fight or be afraid of an opponent, he isn't. While this is sometimes justified, such as rudely refusing advances that push too far or standing up for himself against someone who's chosen him as a target, sometimes it's near-suicidal. Whereas his partner knows when to be more humble, Sui will charge in and make his demands. Even when facing the Emperor of the Celestial world, Sui's attitude lacks the patience to play their game. Combined with his lack of fighting experience, which he gains but never to the level of being able to back that up, it can cause no small amount of trouble. This can even result in him being too stubborn to listen to the other party when he feels he's being wronged badly enough. That said, it's also not a shallow pride that demands revenge over minor things or requires he win every argument.
While he's more prone to enjoying life, that doesn't mean he's not a hard worker and it's often for other people. It's his kindness to others that make him work his hardest or swallow his pride. While he's never cared about achieving the objective of becoming the best actor, he's willing to make extra trips and do extra work to make his work one of the best. Likewise, while shameless enough to not care if his own nudes are leaked, he allows himself to be blackmailed to protect someone else. When he breaks up with Yan and is about to fail his objectives, he quickly corrects course to save his spiritual companion. Sometimes, however, when it seems like he's doing it for someone else, he's also doing it for himself. When he helps with Yan's birthday party, crafting everything by hand, it's because of his pride.
It's also worth noting that Sui's a clever little fox. We see him using the invisibility of his spirit animal to escape danger, and he uses his knowledge of the past to improve the production of shows and recruit new actors. While not the best fighter, he's not bad with tactics and is even better with words.
Sui indeed cares for the feelings of other people, but he can also be a selfish individual. The same boy willing to make multiple trips to cheer up a friend or stand up to a director to protect someone is also the same boy who runs with his own ideas, sometimes against the wishes of the person it's meant for. This normally manifests in two ways: teasing, which is the most common, and outright disregard. While cooking his boyfriend a loving meal, he'll likewise tease him and make him feel the need to reassure Sui before gleefully admitting he was only kidding, for example. While harmless enough, it becomes less so when he's willing to throw the same boyfriend a birthday party after said boyfriend expressed a desire to spend it with just him. Instead of focusing on what Yan wants for his special day, Sui decides what he thinks is best and throws the party.
Surprisingly, he also has a cute side. The immaturity is likely obvious from the prior traits, but this is also the same man who's happy snuggling on the couch with his boyfriend, eating cake, or playing around with modern cooking machines. While his clothing and home may be mature and elegant, Sui also enjoys fuzzy pajamas, and his boyfriend must match, and cute animal cups. Once he falls in love, he's also very dedicated, stating he's going to cook for his boyfriend to make sure said boyfriend is always happy to come home to him. Many of their scenes are very domestic and involve being at home, enjoying one another's company, instead of out on the town enjoying their money.
Another less-seen side is one that he usually hides well. Like most, Sui is capable of fear and rash decisions. We only see this once, but it has a big impact. After losing his memory of his lover and believing his injured tail comes as a punishment for his debauchery, he finds himself exiled and ignored, hated among the Celestial realm. Targeted by the goddess and unsure of his future after nearly dying, Sui decides to go to the demon realm and be with the demon king. This results in Yan, in his own celestial form, following a war between the two realms.
Speech patterns: By default, he has elegant, playful, and mature speech. He's normally polite and confident enough that he isn't easily goaded into childish behavior. It isn't overly stiff, formal, or intelligent. He also doesn't mind talking, but he also isn't someone who feels the need to fill the silence. Even when he teases, it's more mature than not.
Notable breaks from this seem to only come when he's in a committed relationship. He'll pout a bit more if only slightly.
APPEARANCE

As a human, Sui chooses elegant and formal clothing. Often, this includes dress pants, a neutral but nice shirt, and some kind of nicer covering.

ABILITIES
PERMISSIONS
MISCELLANEOUS
Family: Unknown; he did have a sister who gave her life to save her human husband. Sui also sings to foxes, which make them listen to him.
The human version of Sui, before his death, was a very bad actor.
He remembers various things about his past life depending on the canon point. It's only recently that he remembered all of it.
The comic begins translated into English and thus, uses English names in spite of the Chinese setting. Later translations keep the more Chinese names. I use these when possible.
Yes, to my knowledge, the human whose life Sui took after said human's death was also named Sui.
There are six realms. We know of the Celestial Realm, the Spirit Realm, the Mortal Realm, and the Demon Realm. Hopefully, the other two will be revealed but until then, I'm calling them the Void Realm (purgatory equivalent) and the Locked Realm.
Sui seems to favor traditional Chinese foods and loves sweets. However, he's also prone to diets in order to keep his figure for a show.
WARNINGS
Dark content. Click to expand
ATTEMPTED SEXUAL ASSAULT/SEXUAL EXORTION - Another actor tries to blackmail Sui into sex and gets quite far though he's saved before the actual rape. Likewise, the Celestial Emperor set forth a motion of events that were meant to make Sui his possession
It's also mentioned many times that actors and actresses will often be overlooked for parts unless they're willing to sleep with directors. Many assume Sui's done as such for his sudden rise in fame. One character, Sui's rival, seems to be doing so now.
SUICIDE - Sui, the original human, committed suicide before Sui, the fox, took over his life. Likewise, Yan killed himself so that he could go to the human world and find Sui.

opt-out
Sui's canon occasionally touches on some very dark topics. Even aside from how it's handled, the subject matter can be a sensitive one for a lot of people. Sui himself may not be your cup of tea. Whatever it may be, if you wish to opt-out of any interaction with Sui, feel free to reply to this comment. If it's a problem with my writing, please consider using the how's my driving entry as well if you'd like to leave a critique.
